Are you passionate about communication and making a difference in the field of public engagement? If so, I have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join a Federal Government team as an APS4 Communications Officer.

As a member of their team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the group within the Department to achieve its portfolio outcomes. You will be assisting in a range of communication and engagement services, including strategic communication advice, media services, change management, campaigns, and content production.

In practical terms, your work will directly contribute to the successful implementation of key initiatives. By creating effective communication strategies, you will help the team understand the benefits of the reforms and guide them through the necessary changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Asssit with members of the team to develop and deliver communication strategies and products.
  • Help craft engaging content for various communication channels such as web, social media, digital platforms, and media outlets.
  • Assist in producing ministerial media products, including media releases, talking points, and speeches.
  • Foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisation, time management, and attention to detail while managing multiple projects.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Capabilities:

  • Proven experience in media and/or strategic communications is ideal.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a talent for building productive relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Quick adaptability to new IT systems.
  • Drive, integrity, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Effective prioritization and multitasking abilities.

Eligibility: To be considered for this position, you must be eligible for employment within the Department. Additionally, successful candidates will undergo pre-employment checks, including an Australian Federal Police criminal history check and, where relevant, a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check. Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical may also be required.
